The ‘Access Concept’ was specially developed by Renault Trucks for distribution professions. It includes doors that open 90°, non-slip steps in line with the door, grab handles on both sides, stepwell lighting, adjustable seat and air release steering wheel.

With its manual gearbox, dashboard mounted gear lever and parking brake, driving the Renault Midlum is productive and not tiring. With the engine tunnel now free of controls and instruments, movement in the cab is easier. Renault Midlum is available in 75 different combinations, in a wide choice of GVW options (7.5 to 18t in the standard offerings), a comprehensive range of engines, silhouettes and 19 wheelbases, as well as a broad offering of cab options and trim levels. Special configurations can also be delivered, such as the narrow track drive axle for use in historic city centres or the adapted 6x2 26t configuration to provide even greater loading capability.

EASY BODYBUILDING

The Renault Midlum chassis is designed to ensure easy bodybuilding and rapid adaptation to specific vocational requirements: reduced cab-to-body gap, pre-drilling, wheelbases in 300 mm increments, numerous attachment points in the rear overhang, attachment brackets as standard, special bodybuilder’s electronic box, cab bulkhead apertures, etc. Renault Midlum is designed to accommodate special vocational equipment: crane, fire-tender, household refuse collection tipper, street sweeper rear gantry support, tanker, etc.

NEW EURO5 ENGINES CUT CONSUMPTION, NOT EFFICIENCY

Renault Midlum is available with new, more powerful engines ranging from 180 to 220 hp for the DXi5 and from 270 to 300 hp for the DXi7, all offering controlled fuel consumption. The integration of SCR technology, a maintenance free exhaust gas aftertreatment method, helps lower consumption even more.

BETTER TORQUE FOR SMOOTHER DRIVING

With the increased power ratings now available, the new torque delivery band - from 660 Nm (180 hp) to 1,070 Nm (300 hp) - allows for smoother, more economical driving. Available torque and maximum power are adapted so as to minimise gear changes, optimise consumption and improve average journey speeds.

15% SAVINGS IN MAINTENANCE COSTS

For even more efficiency and savings, Renault Midlum is fitted with a pre-catalyser (on 180, 270 and 300 hp), a new air intake (on DXi7), a new AdBlue injector, new turbo-compressors with waste gate control, a new exhaust outlet (on 180, 270 and 300 hp) and a number of other evolutions that reduce the upkeep of the vehicle and can save, on average, 15% in maintenance costs.

OPTITRONIC GEARBOX*: PERFORMANCE IN EVERY MODE

The new Optitronic* automated gearbox improves gearshifting comfort and lowers operating costs. Its steering mounted controls, associated with the digital dashboard and display, allows you to easily choose the most appropriate mode for each situation: ‘Economy’ for the best consumption/performance ratio; ‘Manoeuvre’ to increase vehicle precision when manoeuvring; ‘Kick down’ for instant acceleration; “Temporary manual” to take control of the gearbox.

Renault Midlum has a central rev counter with an integrated digital speedometer. For even more peace of mind, all additional information is displayed via electronic matrix screens, with luminous dials and indicators that can be read at a glance.

PANORAMIC VIEW TO SEE ALL THE OBSTACLES OF CITY TRAFFIC

Renault Midlum offers a very broad field of vision, made possible via a clear, unobstructed windshield and a sloping dashboard design. Its two independent rearview mirrors, with reinforced, vibration free arms, give perfect visibility and eliminate blind spots. This superior level of equipment can be further enhanced by the ‘Vision’ door to make manoeuvring easier, a rear passenger side window and a rear glass.

BRAKES THAT OUTPERFORM THE MOST STRINGENT STANDARDS

Renault Midlum gives you some of the best brakes on the market. Delivering performance akin to that of a passenger car, it returns deceleration figures of 7m/s² in emergency braking. Disc brakes are standard equipment, and with the new generation EBS5 system, emergency braking assistance and hill start assistance, ABS, traction control, a wide offering of engine and transmission mounted retarders coupled to the system, Renault Midlum always has 100 % of its braking potential at the ready.
